Well, lots of stuff can now be marked off our to-do list. New bathrooms, new concession stand, new floor in the auditorium, fixed pillars along the auditorium walls, new wall coverings, availability of food, and, of course, the liquor license.
Things still to be done include new sound equipment — on order — refurbished seats, possible tables in the auditorium alternating with a couple of rows of seats, new screen, new projection lenses. The seats are the most important item and we will be announcing some fund-raising activities and events to help with the refurbishment costs.
We have “Killers” booked for June 4th. It looks entertaining in a goofy, mindless way. And on June 30 we have “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” booked. We’ve had a lot of requests from the younger crowd for something targeted at their age group and this was a good opportunity to bring something in for them.
There were a couple of indie films we would like to have brought in, but the studios in question have decided to put them exclusively in a chain theatre. That’s one reason why it’s nice that we have the ability to book “mainstream” titles, for when indie and foreign films are thin.
We’re working on a couple of events for later in the year. Announcements should come soon.
I just realized the other day that virtually every piece of clothing I own has paint on it.
